Getting Started / Withdrawing from Public School in Utah

File a one-time notice of intent with your local school board for each child you're homeschooling — this is a simple notification, no longer a notarized affidavit, following Utah's House Bill 209 update effective May 2025. You'll receive an excuse certificate acknowledging your homeschool program within 30 days of submission, and you won't need to refile as long as you continue homeschooling. If you already filed the old notarized affidavit before this law changed, it remains valid and you do not need to submit a new notice.
