While the industry races toward AI

We went the other way.

No AI chatbot is teaching your kid. Nothing your kid reads, hears, or gets told when they answer wrong is generated live, on the fly, for them specifically. Every lesson is fixed content, reviewed and approved before it ever shipped — not improvised in the moment.

Why this is a real choice, not an accident

Most of the biggest names in education technology are racing toward AI tutors and chatbots right now — it's the single fastest-growing strategy in the industry. We looked at that race and decided not to run it. Lumi Academy tried generating lessons live with AI, per session, and removed that system platform-wide. Every lesson your kid sees today comes from a fixed content bank that was reviewed before it shipped, instead of being generated in real time while your kid is using it.

That's not because AI can't be useful for adults. It's because an unsupervised AI chatbot raising a 7-year-old's questions is a genuinely different risk than the same tool helping a working adult draft an email.

What the research actually says

~1/3
of parents feel positively about AI in their kid's classroom — parents are genuinely divided, not united behind it
~24%
of 9-17 year olds say they'd ask a chatbot for homework help before a trusted adult
72%
of teens have used an AI companion at least once — many return to one regularly

Kids also trust confident-sounding answers more readily than adults do — which is exactly the failure mode of an AI "hallucination": stated with total confidence, and wrong. A fixed, reviewed answer can't hallucinate. It says the same correct thing every single time, because it was checked before your kid ever saw it — not improvised in the moment with no one watching.

Our actual promise to you

What "AI-free" means in Lumi Academy, concretely:

We'd rather your kid get a smaller, reviewed library of lessons than an infinite one generated live with no one checking it first. That's the trade we've made, and we're not planning to reverse it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Lumi Academy use AI to teach my kids?
No live AI. Nothing in Lumi Academy is generated on the fly for your child — every lesson, story, and hint is fixed content that was reviewed and approved before it ever shipped. There is no AI chatbot generating answers in real time, and there never will be.
How does Lumi help when my kid gets stuck on a question?
Every lesson step has a real, pre-set hint that plays when your kid answers wrong — fixed ahead of time, not generated in the moment. It's the same explanation every time, so you know exactly what it says before your kid ever sees it.
Did Lumi Academy ever use AI and remove it?
Yes — Lumi previously experimented with generating lessons live via AI, per-session, and removed that system platform-wide. Every lesson now comes from a fixed, reviewed content bank instead of being generated in real time.
Why does it matter if a kids' learning app generates content live with AI or not?
An AI chatbot can sound confident while being wrong (a "hallucination"), and research shows kids trust confident-sounding answers more readily than adults do. Fixed, reviewed content means what your kid is taught was checked and approved before it shipped — not generated in the moment with no chance to review it first.
